Our History

Westminster Presbyterian Church was organized in 1893, and in 1900 dedicated a new Church home at the corner of Market and Front Streets in downtown Youngstown, Ohio. In 1955, as population shifted to the suburbs, the Church membership purchased land in Boardman Township with plans to construct a new home. The Sanctuary was dedicated in 1967, and on July 4, 1982, the congregation burned the mortgage! Dr. Samuel G. Warr was named Pastor Emeritus in recognition of his leadership through the challenges of the church relocation, named “operation Boardman”.

Located two blocks from Boardman Centre, Westminster is a Church of striking architecture, its lighted tower visible for miles. The Sanctuary is spacious and features a unique stained glass window depicting the City of God, a distinctive Communion Table and a glorious pipe organ.

Founder’s Chapel houses the original furniture, pews, Lectern and stained glass windows from the original downtown Youngstown Church. The Chapel is used for the early Sunday Morning Service, small weddings, funerals, and Children’s Church services.
